About afortnightaway

Welcome to my blog!

There are a couple of things you should know about me:

Short and crisp introduction:

profile afortnightaway

  • I love to write in English even though it is not my native language
  • I am addicted to tote bags and Chucks
  • I still buy music CDs (my collection counts nearly 300)
  • I neither have a fixed theme nor fixed publishing days for my blog
  • I am really good at starting several things but hardly finishing them

Longer introduction:

My username, as you probably already guessed, is afortnightaway. The reason why I have not yet published a name relating to my real one is due to the uncertainty and the fact that I prefer to stay anonymous. However, this will probably change with time as I tend to write a lot about personal stuff. So you will eventually learn more about me and my life with every post. You have to know that I started really small with a Twitter and an Instagram account because a dear friend of mine, who is a blogger herself, persuaded me to create those accounts. I thought, why not? Having those accounts, I would also be able to follow and support her.

Little did I know that I would rediscover my passion for writing as I posted my very first story on Medium. The post was just about a personal problem I had with a friend of mine. Surprisingly I received a lot of positive feedback because the people reading my story could relate to my thoughts and feelings. I then just kept on writing. At the end of August 2015, I published on Medium a post about the reasons why I write. The statistics exploded! I have never received that many recommend, comments, tweets, likes, and feedback. It is just a wonderful feeling when you realise that you were able to help, inspire and even motivate other people by publishing your writings.

On Medium, I had amazing readers and a  publication that helped me with publishing my stories under their name and spread my posts all over social networks. I am very aware of the fact that with this blog I am again starting from scratch. But I do not care much about the number of followers or likes. It is much more important to me that I am able to write posts that may even inspire the one or the other reader.
