A few years ago I never thought that I could become that extroverted person again that I once was. As a kid, I was extremely bubbly, talkative and had a lot of ideas. I always enjoyed the company of other people and had no trouble giving a speech in front of people who I didn’t even know. Yes, I was indeed an extroverted girl. But what happened that I became an “introverted” person?

From Extroverted To Introverted And Back Again

I lost all my confidence. I was so unsure about my actions, my plans for the future and I worried too much about what others may think of me. I had no self-confidence whatsoever.
The main reason for this development was the cultural shock I experienced when my family and I moved to Switzerland. Here you’re able to read the entire background story.

However, in the last few years, I was able to re-discover my personality. With the regained confidence I realised that I do enjoy company and moreover, I need people around me.

Extroverts Are Not Braggers… Mainly

I always thought that an introvert is a shy person and an extrovert would be a poser. It’s just been a year or so that I’ve learned that an extrovert is by definition somebody who gets energized by being around other people. Of course, normally they are also talkative and enthusiastic, but the main difference between an introvert and an extrovert is where they get their energy from. And an introvert needs time alone in order to regain strength.

So, out of curiosity, I took a personality test – the so-called “Myers–Briggs Type Indicator Test”. Half a year ago I took it for the first time and I’m not quite sure what result I got. Unfortunately, I deleted the mail with my test result again. However, I have quite a hunch that it was ENFJ-T. Nevertheless, I assume that they are quite similar anyway. How I understand this test result, the main difference between the two different outcomes is that I had a more social vibe when I took the second one. The letter S stands for being more caring about others and the letter N is more the leader type.
While writing this blog post I searched for the characteristics for these two types and they are obviously quite similar, as only one letter differs.

The Personality Test

But what does this say about me? Not much I guess. Because the result will change depending on your current mood. Though, it was fun I don’t think different of myself because I realised on my own that I used to be an extrovert.

So, accordingly to the personality test I should be like the following:
At their hearts, ESFJ personalities are social creatures sand thrive on staying up to date with what their friends are doing.

That’s true for me. But is it not also true for you? Maybe if you’re an introvert you don’t value the social life as much, but I assume that you still care about your friends.

The first result I got was the ENFJ:
ENFJs are genuine, caring people who talk the talk and walk the walk, and nothing makes them happier than leading the charge, uniting and motivating their team with infectious enthusiasm.

Also with this result, it says about caring people. And the part about loving leading people and motivating them is very true for me.

Nonetheless, this test results could also be suitable for someone who got a totally different personality type.

I guess it is fun taking those tests but like horoscopes, you could always make the answer fitting to your actual situation.

What’s your thought on personality tests? And have you taken one? Here’s the link to the personality test I took.

  1. I had to take the MBTI Test for a class I took over the summer and my result was ISFJ. As I started writing my reflection paper about it for the class, I realized how much the results were just how I am in real life. It was a really interesting thing to notice so much about yourself or even a few things you didn’t know about yourself after you get your results.
