My Feel Good Playlist ~ Me Myself And My Music

About two years ago I made a so-called “Feel Good Playlist” for a friend of mine as we both enjoy listening to the quite similar music. And although I created this music list for my friend I listen to it whenever I need some comfort or motivation. And yesterday was definitely a day when I should have listened to it, but I often I forget that I have it on my iPod. However, I thought I could share it with you. So without further ado – let’s get happy! 🙂

1. Birdy – Shelter

This playlist should not start like a firecracker. The first song should emphasize your mood. Shelter is a very soft and touching song. The delicate and high voice of Birdy gives you the feeling of being understood.

2. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Done All Wrong

The second song is calm as well. In this 2 minutes and 50 seconds you are still allowed to have self-pity, feel sad and mournful. As you probably already know Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is one of my absolute favourite bands. I heard this song first in the Twilight movie New Moon. Yes, it’s embarrassing, but I’ve watched all Twilight movies. But for my defence, I read all the books and really enjoyed them.

3. Blood Red Shoes – This Is Not For You

Maybe your sad feeling is mixed with some anger. If yes, then this song is definitely something for you then. It’s more powerful and will probably already giving you the necessary kick with it’s attitude.

4. Cavalier King  – The Unprotected

I simply just love this song. There are no words how much I love it. Don’t ask my how I stumbled over it but when I heard it the first time it immediately gave me power, positivity and motivation. When there’s not enough time to listen to the entire playlist I’ll just be listening to this one. It’s about that life is only worth living you also experience the risk, pain and lost. A sheltered life would be just dull and you’ll get the feeling of missing out on things. This song motives you to take all the risks and try something new.

I want the real thing
I want the unprotected
I want the feeling that i am still alive

Give me the suffering
Give me the bleeding
I’ll take the pain and turn it in to ecstasy
I have to face the fear that i may die here
Die having never really lived for anything
I want the real thing

5. The Clash – Koka Kola

What is Feel Good Playlist without a happy and silly song? The Clash will provide you with the necessary hormones of happiness – the endorphins. Or are they called dopamine or serotonin? I have no clue… But I know that this song will make me either dance or even sing, which is good for me but believe very bad for the people hearing me.

6. Death By Chocolate – Tell Me What You See

This powerful song will give you the energy needed. Not only the lyrics are positive but also the melody is strong. And the video clip is just weird. But better see for yourself.

7. Death Cab For Cutie – Company Calls

After releasing some aggression with Death By Chocolate we’ll move on to Death Cab For Cutie where you calm a little bit down. It’s uplifting beat will for sure make you smile.

8. Dinosaur Jr. – Watch The Corners

Another really weird music video clip. Nonetheless, it will ensure and guarantee your happy mood.

9. Eddie Vedder – No Ceiling

I love the soundtrack album by the movie “Into The Wild”. The uplifting beat will give you lot’s of positive thoughts. Whenever I listen to it I feel like I’m able to tackle every problem.

10. Half Moon Run – Call Me In The Afternoon

This song with its fast beat makes feel really empowered. I’ve just recently saw the band Half Moon Run with my boyfriend live and it was such an amazing concert!

11. Jake Bugg – Seen It All

Although the lyrics are saddening and depressing the melody itself is very joyful. So, my advice, just listen to the music and don’t pay too much attention to the lyrics 😉

12. Jake Bugg – What Doesn’t Kill You

This punk liked song made by Jake Bugg belongs definitely to my favourites. And the message of this song couldn’t be more true – what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

13. Lou Barlow – Legendary

After this energetic song, Lou Barlow is just right to calm us again. This thoughtful song will maybe help to reflect on your life and think more clear about the things that have upset you. Real hardcore The OC California fans will recognise this song from the scene from the episode Risky Business from the second season.

14. Modest Mouse – Satin In A Coffin

For me, there’s no Feel Good Playlist without the band Modest Mouse….

15. Modest Mouse – Dashboard

…for me, there’s no Feel Good Playlist without at least two songs of the band Modest Mouse  🙂 And there’s a bonus point: the music video is quite entertaining.

16. Modest Mouse – Fire It Up

I warned you… I’ve said at least two songs. So this one will be the last one. At least for this playlist 😉

17. One Republic – Counting Stars

This song is quite known as it was played on the radio day in and out. And guess what, I’m still not sick of it. This song has such a positive vibe which always motivates me.

18. The Subways – I Want To Hear What You’ve Got To Say

Another The OC California song, yes I’m a real addict as you probably already know from my 10 Unusual Things You Don’t Know About Me. I’m not sure but I think it’s from the third season and the episode is called Anger Management.

19. Ed Sheeran –  I See Fire

I thought that this song could really make a good end to the Feel Good Playlist as it is if see it in the whole context of The Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings, a powerful song.

Now it’s your turn: What is your favourite motivational song? Do you have a Feel Good Playlist?

Would love to hear in the comments.
