On 14th of September, my very first post went online and now it has been a bit more than four months. Due to this occasion, I would like to reflect on my first blogging months.
What I Learned From Blogging So Far
Blogging is fun, but it is also hard work and moreover it requires a lot of discipline from you. Even if I do not have a fixed schedule for my blog I try to post on a regular basis and this is at times difficult, especially when I have a lot of work to do for my university classes.
Scheduling
I am not a very organised person who writes down every event in the agenda. In the beginning, I am committed to it but with time I get very negligent. However, to my astonishment, my blogging calendar was never sloppy and I stuck in the most cases to my schedule.
Interacting
I love having small talk and getting to know new people. And what I learned in this time is that it is extremely crucial to get in touch with your followers and people who leave comments. Not only does this help with subscribers but it is also very interesting to interact with them and learn some things about them.
Monthly Popular Posts
Now I would like you the most popular posts for each month. For me, it was quite interesting which one reached the most views.
September
Starting My Own Blog reached in my first blogging month the first views. Having been my first post ever and receiving such lovely comments from you guys gave me lots of motivation to keep up with this blog.
October
This month was definitely the political one. With my post, You Are Wasting Your Time With Politics I reached quite a lot of views. It is for sure a controversial and disputed subject but as probably most of you realised, politics is a topic that means really a lot to me.
November
In general, November was so far the month with the most views. The music review Black Rebel Motorcycle Club– B.R.M.C was probably the reason for this active month. I enjoyed writing this review as they are one of my favourite music bands and having seen them twice live at a concert makes this band, even more, special to me.
December
The trip to Edinburgh was memorable and I like to reminisce about it while looking at the photographs. The post, 6 (Almost) Free Things To Do In Edinburgh was the most popular in the month of December. Edinburgh is definitely on my To-Visit-Again-List 😉
Future?…
What does the future for this blog hold? To be honest, I have no idea. The only thing I know for sure is that I want to keep on writing and publishing it. I enjoy this way of sharing my stories, problems and tips with you. Will this blog ever have a fixed theme, you were probably wondering? The answer to this questions is the same as the above one – To be honest, I have no idea. But if I should categorise it, it likely would be a lifestyle blog combined with music reviews. I definitely want to keep my blog series Me Myself And My Music because I love to show you some bands I like to listen to and maybe you will even discover new music for yourself.
Just go on blogging. And don’t look at the statistics. Could hurt (at least for my blog). Constant evolution is normal, I guess. I like the ‘I have no clue approach’

Thank you for your nice comment! I definitely will keep on blogging.
I hoped that I would know where this blog will take me, but apparently I still have no clue 😉 But maybe as you stated, this is not necessary something bad.

I started my WordPress blog on the 19th of September, not long after you! It’s been a rewarding experience. I’ve just reached the 100 follower mark, which is exciting. I never thought anyone would be interested in hearing what I had to say.
Good luck for the future!

You can find my blog here: https://harbourwave.wordpress.com/
I get annoyed all the time because WordPress shows my old blog, rather than my new one, so I’ve pretty much memorised how to type up the aforementioned URL.
Thank you.

Thank you so much for this lovely comment, I feel flattered 🙂 It is sometimes difficult and challenging but because it is fun to do, it makes it a lot easier.

Yes, blogging IS time consuming and demands a lot of dedication… But when you love doing it, that’s not a bad thing, is it? 🙂
I started my blog just a little before you started yours – in July. I’ve been posting twice a week since then – no exceptions! I am pretty happy with the fact that people actually left comments under some of my posts and connected with me on social networks, we get to talk with some of them at times… And it’s great. I wish I had started blogging a long time ago.
If you are using the Jetpack plugin, they sent a great looking yearly report at the beginning of this month. It gives a great summary of the views and most popular post of your blog through out the year. If you have one, would you mind sharing it? Here is mine, if you’re curious: http://jetpack.me/annual-report/96444321/2015/

Yes, I couldn’t agree more! Why not spend time on things you really enjoy doing.
That is amazing that you are able to keep up with your schedule. Twice a week is a lot. I had to take a short break from blogging due to my exams, but now I am back on track again 😉
This is interesting. Wow, your viewers are from 102 different countries, that is great 🙂
Of course, I would not mind sharing it. Here is the link to my annual report http://afortnightaway.com/2015/annual-report/ I hope the link works.

Wow, has it really been four months since you got into this? I loved the October post, especially because we were talking about that… 😉 Controversial things are always popular because people are interested in your own opinion. Well done! My favourite is, of course, that Edinburgh article. Unforgettable, stormy times with a lot of weird music!

Oh yes, Edinburgh – especially the Irish pub was amazing! Definitely something we can do again.

I did not realize how time consuming blogging would be either. It is like a second job for me. Though, I love to do it, it definitely takes dedication.

Yes exactly, but through blogging, I also have learned to prioritize my things which is an additional plus.
